Rainbow Six Mobile: Finally Released and How It Looks So Far

Mobile game releases have been piling up this year with the growing popularity of the industry. Now, players can prep their skills for the recently launched Rainbow Six Mobile, and, at REDMAGIC, we couldn’t be more excited to share in the hype. Today, we’ll be looking at what the new mobile rendition has in store for gamers as well as how it’s been received so far.

Rainbow Six Mobile is a free-to-play, tactical first-person shooter game developed and published by Ubisoft. The game was announced in 2022, with beta testing taking place soon after. On the 23rd of February 2026, the game was finally launched worldwide on Android and iOS platforms. This 5v5 shooter game is inspired by the popular 2015 Rainbow Six Siege game and joins Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six saga as a fresh new look at a beloved franchise. Before we touch on gameplay, let’s look at the motive behind the game’s development.

Developing a New Beast

Rainbow Six Mobile has been a widely anticipated title for years now, with mobile gamers eager to test out the legendary game on a new platform. From a developer’s perspective, Quinn Collins of Pocket Tactics spoke to Rainbow Six Mobile’s Olivier Albarracin about what makes the game stand out.

When asked whether the game would be an isolated ecosystem, Albarracin states that Rainbow Six Mobile is its “own beast in that sense,” explaining that it has a unique cadence and operations. He states that they wanted to “build a mobile-first experience from the ground up,” and that would mean everything “from the touch controls to the HUD.”

Albarracin maintained that it wasn’t so much an issue of porting but “making sure that the uniqueness of Siege is translated.” For him, the biggest challenge when developing Rainbow Six Mobile was compressing the game's complex tactical experience into a mobile format and ensuring that clarity, session lengths, and spatial awareness made sense on a small screen.

Albarracin concluded that their game is very unique and that it would be great for more games to “establish themselves, be a part of the competitive space, and allow players to play different alternative types of games there.” Now, let’s get a taste of what you can expect going into Rainbow Six Mobile yourself.

What to Expect from Rainbow Six Mobile

In Rainbow Six Mobile, Attackers and Defenders square off against one another in alternating rounds using gadgets and breaching devices to infiltrate the enemy’s fortifications, traps, and cameras. The game features three game modes – Bomb, Bomb Rush, and Team Deathmatch – which can be played in Quick Play, Ranked matches, and Private matches.

Players must use strategy and teamwork while choosing from a roster of elite Operators from Rainbow Six Siege, each designed for action tactical team play with unique abilities and gadgets. The maps in Rainbow Six Mobile also include Siege-inspired locations like Bank, Border, Clubhouse, Oregon, and Villa, as well as mobile-exclusive arenas like Restaurant and Summit.

Ultimately, Rainbow Six Mobile is a true FPS action experience that delivers smooth online gameplay, intuitive controls, and shorter 5v5 FPS matches. Players can customize their HUD, adjust controls to different gameplays, and jump into tactical combat anywhere, anytime. The game supports responsive touch controls along with controller compatibility for competitive action on the go.

Play with friends or anyone worldwide in this multiplayer arena where intel, strategy, and tactical gameplay are essential. With destructible environments and a team-based player vs. player format, Rainbow Six Mobile requires communication, planning, and skills to outlast.

You can build up your team with specialized Operators drawn from the legendary Rainbow Six Siege lineup, each armed with unique weapons, gadgets, and abilities. Each month also comes with new Operators, a battle pass, different game modes, and events throughout the season. There will also be a special free-to-play game mode at the start of each season that focuses on the new operator. As part of the battle pass, players get to try new Operators, understand the meta, and see if they want to invest more.

When it comes to introducing collaborations into the Rainbow Six Mobile ecosystem, Albarracin maintained in his interview that the team wanted to focus more on the competitive scene and giving players more roles to play. He notes that while Siege has a lot of great operators, they have a different meta, so they’ll see how the players interact with this and which operators make sense to introduce in the future.

Existing Rainbow Six players also got to enjoy a few perks thanks to Ubisoft’s cross-rewards system to celebrate the global launch of the game. The rewards included five draws in the Weapon Arsenal pack, one draw in the Collector's Weapon Arsenal pack, one charm, along with an R6M-branded weapon skin and universal background. However, these goodies could only be claimed until March 2nd. So, let’s talk about the way the gaming community reacted to the release.

What Does the Gaming Community Think?

The reception to Rainbow Six Mobile has been mostly positive, with many veteran Siege fans approaching the game with high hopes and curious ambition. Sitting at a cool 4.7 stars on the Google Play Store, the game seems to have already amassed the good graces of most players.

In another article, Pocket Tactics also spoke to popular YouTuber Kudos about the impact of Rainbow Six Mobile. With around 250k subscribers since creating his channel in 2018, Kudos became something of a legend in the Siege community, offering commentary, lore, gameplay tips, and more.

In the interview, Kudos was pleasantly surprised that the game worked on a mobile device, complimenting the streamlined gameplay for mobile devices. Kudos and his core Siege player audience received the mobile iteration with enthusiasm, with the YouTuber stating that the hype was “not only a testament to his viewers and the Siege community in general, but also a testament to how well the game has been developed."

From an angle of accessibility, Kudos also mentions that the push towards mobile gaming is a way to make gaming accessible for everyone. He elaborates that PCs are getting more expensive and that “having such industry pillars of modern gaming, like Siege and other titles now being on mobile, further establishes that market and also includes that player base of people who may have always wanted to be included, but couldn't, because of pricing reasons or geographical reasons".

For Vikhyaat Vivek from Digital Trends, Rainbow Six Mobile’s tactical pacing makes it more fun than Call of Duty: Mobile and PUBG Mobile. He noted in his review of the game that most mobile shooters usually follow a familiar formula that involves sprinting towards the nearest enemies for a gunfight; however, Siege has always felt more tactical to him.

Vivek says that Rainbow Six Mobile doesn’t try to copy Siege X perfectly, with smaller maps, faster gameplay, and tighter flow. However, the mobile version also doesn’t abandon the core gameplay loop of Siege, and that’s why it works. For him, the game maintains the tension, deliberate pacing, and agility fans have come to enjoy.

He does note that PC purist Siege fans might need convincing, but that the mobile game ultimately needs to be seen as its own creation.  Although even mobile players will feel that shift. “If you primarily play mobile shooters, Rainbow Six Mobile will feel different,” Vivek states plainly. While most “mobile shooters offer constant respawns, incentivize kill streaks, and lean heavily into arcade-style chaos”, Vivek maintains that this game “asks you to slow down; not in tempo, but in thought.”

Playing with the REDMAGIC Nova gaming tablet, CY Knox also concluded that Rainbow Six Mobile is not a fast-paced game but instead demands tactical planning and thought behind each move. He notes that this tactical 5v5 has your team either planting a bomb or stopping the opposing team from planting the bomb, which is not as easy as it sounds when Operators all have different skill sets that help them play more tactically.
